Introduction

i-module WLAN serial and i-modul WLAN bridge are embedded communication modules for the integration into customer applications. They transmit data in the wireless LAN according to industry standard IEEE 802.11b with up to 11 Mbit/s.

The i-modul WLAN are pin and size compatible to the i-modul series (analog modem, GSM, GPRS, ISDN, Ethernet, Bluetooth)

WLAN connections are established to access points (infrastructure mode) as well as into adhoc networks. The radio network is accessed by a main antenna and an optional auxiliary antenna for improved reception (diversity).

The radio connection is secured by Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) with 64 or 128 bit keys.

i-module WLAN serial

The i-modul WLAN serial transmits the serial data in IP packets according to the standard for local area networks and the internet. The partner device receives the data directly or by a virtual COM port driver.

i-modul WLAN bridge

The i-modul WLAN bridge is a Ethernet-WLAN bridge that connects Ethernet devices in to a wireless LAN or connects two network segments without wiring.
