Introduction

The M70 is a DSP-based M-Module™ for acquisition of temperature values using PT100/PT1000 resistance temperature detectors or thermocouples. The M70 automatically recognizes the connected sensor type and connection type from the pin assignment of the connectors applied. For PT100/PT1000 the M-Module™ has 4, 8 or 16 channels, depending on the input mode (2-wire, 3-wire or 4-wire connection). 15 channels are available for thermocouples, while one channel is used for cold junction compensation. You must connect a PT100 sensor to this channel.

The M70 is based on the M-Module™ ANSI mezzanine standard. It can be used as an I/O extension in any type of bus system, i.e. CPCI, VME or on any type of stand-alone SBC. Appropriate M-Module™ carrier cards in 3U, 6U and other formats are available from MEN or other manufacturers.

All values refer to the final measuring value of the thermo sensor at an ambient temperature of 0..+60°C. Error tolerance of sensor must be added.
