Introduction

The Challenger PC was designed for a customer requiring a rugged, reliable industrial computer with Pentium class performance. Challenger PC rear viewThe system contained a high specification little board VNS-686 (now obsolete), a laptop hard disk and a miniature mains power supply.

All the I/O was brought out of the back of the chassis with familiar PC type connectors. Such interfaces were 4 serial ports, parallel port, floppy interface, UW SCSI interface, RJ-45 network interface, AUI network interface, VGA, ps/2 keyboard, ps/2 mouse and mains inlet. The chassis is small compared to a standard PC enclosure at only 240mm * 260mm * 70mm. The Challenger PC was successfully CE certified by Diamond Point.
