Introduction

Contec's AIO-160802GY-USB is a high precision USB terminal designed for measuring analog signals and collecting data on a Windows PC. This model is an improvement over Contec's existing product that is currently on sale (model: AIO-160802AY-USB), with 2.5 times the sampling frequency (100 kHz ? 250 kHz) to enable high-speed sampling. The improved FIFO memory capacity (8 times: 1k ? 8k data entries) and the optimised device driver enable stable, long-term continuous sampling even with entry-class notebook PCs. No overrun errors occurred in CONTEC's test environment when continuous sampling was performed for over 3 hours at a speed of 50 kHz (20 ?sec/ch) on a Core i3 1.9 GHz notebook PC and at a speed of 166 kHz (6 ?sec/ch) on a Core i5 3.2 GHz notebook PC.

This product also has excellent support software. A rich variety of application software, drivers, and middleware is available: "C-LOGGER" (standard data logging software equipped with functions for drawing graphs, zoomed observation, saving files, and dynamically transferring data to Excel), "API-TOOL" (Windows API functions that support Visual Basic and Visual C++), and "VI-DAQ" (a driver for LabVIEW made by National Instruments).

  • Analog I/O at high speed and with high precision
    The terminal is equipped with analog input (16-bit, 8 ch, 4 ?sec/ch), analog output (16-bit, 2 ch, 10 µsec), and digital I/O (LVTTL level, 4 ch each).
  • Complies with the USB1.1 and USB2.0 standards and is driven by bus power to eliminate the need for an external power supply
    The terminal complies with the USB1.1 and USB2.0 standards and can transfer data at high speed in Hi-Speed (480 Mbps) mode. The terminal uses USB bus power to operate, so no external power supply is necessary.
  • Equipped with buffer memory for FIFO or ring memory usage
    The analog input (8k data entries) and analog output (1k data entries) are both equipped with a buffer memory for FIFO or ring memory usage. This makes it possible to perform analog I/O in the background without depending on the operation status of the software or PC.
  • Included driver library that supports Windows
    It is possible to create Windows applications by using the included driver library API-TOOL. A diagnostic program that can check the operation of the hardware is also provided.
  • Supports data logging software "C-LOGGER" (analog input only)
    Data logging software "C-LOGGER," which makes it possible to perform operations such as displaying graphs of the recorded signal data, saving files, and dynamically transferring data to Excel (spreadsheet software), is supported.
  • Sampling timing control by way of various triggers and clocks
    Sampling can be started and stopped by a variety of triggers: software triggers and external triggers (externally applied control signals). The user can select from the sampling period, the internal clock (the high-precision timer installed on the board) and an external clock (an externally applied control signal).
  • Equipped with a terminal connector for simple wiring
    The removable terminal connector (screw type) makes wiring simple.
