ETX-DC SATA headers

The ETX®-DC module brings latest 45 nm technology to the well-established ETX® 3.0 form factor. The Intel® Atom™ N270 processor is well-balanced in terms of power consumption, performance and pricing. Especially, long-term availability turns ETX®-DC to become a perfect successor for your existing ETX® designs.

Outstanding is the power consumption in relation to the performance. A maximum dissipation of estimated 12 W enables fanless designs. Compared to widespread Intel® Pentium® M modules with similar CPU performance, the power consumption was cut down dramatically. As a side-effect, EMV and MTBF are positively influenced by this fact.

Intel® northbridge 945GSE fulfills all demands in terms of interfaces for modern ETX 3.0 applications. Established interfaces like ISA are supported without any compromises. The latest processor and chipset technology supports additionally Windows Vista®.

With the ETX®-DC, your investments in ETX® designs can be sustained for years. Due to latest technology, your products become more valuable.

Heatspreader Concept

ETX heatspreaderThe heat-spreader is a 2mm thick aluminium plate. It provides a thermal interface surface for heat removal from the ETX module. The heat-spreader is thermally coupled to the CPU die or package surface, and it may also be coupled to other heat generating devices on the module (e.g. chipset, vga chip). The heat spreader is not intended as a heat sink, although it may be suitable for this purpose on low power modules operating under benign conditions.

Kontron have two different heatspreaders for the ETX-DC. One with threaded post and one with through hole posts. Kontron also have two heatspreader/heatsink assemblies (again one threaded, one through hole). The heatsink is 15 mm tall (in addition to the heat spreader thickness which is 2mm). Drawings of all four assemblies are available on request.
