Introduction

The JRex family of high performance 3.5 inch single board computers from Diamond Point maintain the same standardised mechanical and electrical interfaces as the other family members, obviating the need for major redesign when migrating between 3.5 inch boards. The family of boards is available with a complete range of processors from the Intel Celeron® ULV up to the Intel Pentium® M.

The JRex-PM hosts a variety of processors including a 1.8GHz Intel Pentium® M, 1.6GHz Intel Pentium® M1.1, 800MHz Intel Mobile, 1.0GHz Intel Celeron® M, fanless 1.0GHz Intel ULV Celeron® M or Socket 479 for Pentium® M/Celeron® M. A highly integrated Intel 855GM chipset with an Intel Extreme Graphics 2 engine integrates 2 to 32MB VRAM UMA with LVDS, DVO and CRT interfaces with dual independent display and image rotation facilities. Up to 1GB DDR-SDRAM can be accommodated via a DDR-DIMM socket, allowing the use of standard low-cost desktop computer memory.

The JRex-CE hosts a 400MHz ULV or 733MHz LV Intel Celeron processor and includes a highly integrated Intel 815 ICH4 Southbridge chipset and graphics engine with 12MB VRAM UMA. It incorporates SDRAM-DIMM support, 1x RS232 Dsub and 1 x TTL internal connections ideal for touch panel or GPS devices, together with 4 x GPIO.

The JRex-VC features a 1.0GHz VIA C3™ processor and PadLock data encryption engine for enhanced security and a VIA TwisterT chipset integrating a S3 Savage 4 graphics engine with up to 32MB VRAM UMA. A SDRAM-DIMM socket to support up to 1.0GB memory in included.

The JRex-VE hosts a 300MHz or 600MHz VIA Eden processor capable of operating without fan assistance and a VIA TwisterT chipset integrating a S3 Savage 4 graphics engine with up to 32MB VRAM UMA. A SDRAM-DIMM socket to support up to 1.0GB memory is included.

The whole JRex family from Diamond Point integrate a host of interfaces including, CompactFlash™, multiple 10/100BaseT Ethernet and USB 2.0, UDMA-100 EIDE, FDC, COM, CRT/LCD and keyboard/mouse. All JRex 3.5 inch boards are plug-and-work enabled to further reduce time to market.

Display integration is simplified via JILI, Kontron's Intelligent LVDS Interface, which automatically recognizes which type of display is connected and independently sets all video parameters.

All boards incorporate an interface to mount JFLEX ™, a low cost and even customisable add-on I/O extension module that can be firmly screwed on top of the board without changing the JRex 3.5 inch foot-print. The I/O functionality is cable free with up to PCI performance at a fraction of the average price of comparable add-on solutions.

All boards are available in two versions, one with an ATX PSU (Power Supply Unit), the other with an AT PSU. They are lead free in compliance with RoHS directives.
