Introduction

The SD-IDE40 is a compact board designed to interface up to two microSD/TransFlash™ to a 40 pin IDE header. It has two microSD/ TransFlash™ connectors with card detection allowing the use of different combinations (Master, Slave, Master+Slave) without the need to set jumpers.

The SD-IDE40 acts as a true hardware bridge, allowing the microSD/ TransFlash™ to be seen as a hard drive by the host computer without a software driver. It also allows the host computer to use a microSD/TransFlash™ as a bootable device. It has very low power consumption and supports PIO1 to PIO4 and UDMA 3 for fast data transfer.

Mounting

The board mounts directly to a 40 way 2.53mm IDE header. Picture below shows the IDE connector on the understide of the board. The standard 40 pin IDE header does not provide power - hence the board has a power connector for supplying 5V to the unit. An optional cable is available for supplying power.
