Often software gets “locked up” and system hangs occur during lengthy test cycles. When a system freezes during development and/or testing, a hardware reset will result in the loss of crucial system information that could be used to analyze the source of the problem.

Instead of spending hours of valuable time trying to reproduce the cause of the system hang, the PCI Express Dump Switch card identifies bugs at the push of a button. An exterior button on the Dump Switch triggers a Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI), which enables a crash dump or drops execution into your operating system’s debugger. This dump action preserves the information that would normally be lost during a reset.
