Kontron coolMONSTER/PM

Introduction

The coolMONSTER/PM is an „all in one" Intel® Pentium® M based slot PC with consistent half size slot design, while Intel® ULV Celeron® M is the ultra low Power option. Despite the very compact half size format it‘s possible to integrate the PISA® (PISA®=PCI+ISA) bus and a full featured set of interfaces.

Beside all standard interfaces (four COM ports, one as RS232 or RS485, EPP/ECP parallel port, floppy, EIDE, USB and IRDA port), a SoundBlaster compatible sound chip and a high speed on chip video controller (Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 engine) ) is available. It can operate CRT monitors and LCD flat panels in parallel even with different screen content. Two EIDE ports, one with 40-pin connector, the other with 44-pin 2 mm connector, are available to support various mass storage devices. Additionally the coolMONSTER is equipped with an Ethernet 10/100Base-T interface (Twisted Pair).

Dual Display/DVI Output

By using the Kontron ADA-DVO-DVI-FC3 adapter, DVI displays can be supported. The Intel chipset supports dual independent displays via either the VGA, DVO or LCD interfaces.

PISA Interface

The PISA connector is a single connector that has both PCI and ISA signals in a 1/2 size format.

The PCI signals are on the bottom row, the ISA signals are on the top row. You can plug ISA cards into a PISA slot (but you can't plug a PISA card into an ISA slot). We have a wide range of backplanes which bring out the PISA bus to a wide combination of ISA and PCI slots.
