At the heart of the MACH8 Solid State Drive there is STEC's leading edge controller able to address multiple flash chips simultaneously to achieve up to 100MB/s sustainable Read/Write speed.

The MACH8 product is embedding the Full Data Path Protection, STEC's proprietary set of algorithms capable to protecting the data wherever they are temporary or permanently stored

PERFORMANCE

No matter how you measure performance, the MACH8 Solid State Drive will outperform the expectations. The MACH8 Solid State Drive can achieve up to 100MB/s sustainable sequential read and write speed. The Drive can deliver up to 5,000 read IOPS in the base version and up to 10,000 in the MACH8IOPS Solid State Drive version, 20 to 40 times more than the best HDD available on the market. All these extraordinary performance are achievable thanks to the revolutionary architecture of the MACH8, designed for speed and reliability.

FULL DATA PATH PROTECTION

Any data that is transferred to the drive is protected via a powerful Error Correction mechanism. For the first time in the industry, the Error Correction is also applied to the cache memory and to the spare area of the flash, the critical area that stores the mapping information. The MTBF of the MACH8 Solid State Drive is 2,800,000 hours, twice as much as the best-in-class HDD. The non-recoverable error rate is less than 1 error per 1020 bits read.

POWER DOWN PROTECTION

The MACH8 Solid State Drive employs both hardware and software mechanisms to prevent data loss in case of power fluctuation or power loss. The Hardware protection prolongs power long enough to transfer all the data from the cache to the non-volatile memory. The software protection assures data integrity by verifying that valid data are not overwritten by corrupted data.

EXTRAORDINARY ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS

Given that there are no moving parts and thanks to the optimized sub-system design, the MACH8 Solid State Drive can withstand extreme environmental conditions. The drive will survive Random Vibrations up to 16.3G and Operating Shocks up to 1,500G. As any STEC's flash products, the MACH8 Solid State Drive is available also in Industrial Temperature Range (-40;85C), with non-operating temperature ranging from -55C up to 95C. Relative humidity can ranges from 5% up to 95% and altitude goes from 1,000ft (-304.80m) up to 80,000ft (24,384m).

LOW POWER CONSUMPTION

MACH8 Solid State Drive consumes only 2.1W in operating mode, roughly half of high-end rotating HDD. The same consideration applies for the idle state, with MACH8 consuming only 550mA

S.M.A.R.T

The MACH8 Solid State Drive supports the S.M.A.R.T. feature (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology). The S.M.A.R.T. feature set protects the user from unscheduled downtime by monitoring and storing critical drive performance and calibration parameters. No unscheduled down-time is drastically reducing the total cost of ownership.

STEC provides complete Bill of Material control to assure to our customers that any product delivered matches completely the specification. STEC also offers value-added services like customized form factors, testing, custom firmware, software imaging, customer-specific labeling and serialization.
